PERSONALITY
● Ed's stubborn and prideful, unwilling to give up even when the odds are against him. No matter how hard life gets him down and how much he wants to give up, something always keeps him going.
● Gifted at continuing to remain optimistic despite every wall he comes to. No matter how hopeless it seems
● His motto is "keep moving forward" to the point of it being harmful to his well-being, as he would rather push his problems aside than deal with them, escaping into denial when he can't handle the truth of things.
● For all of his cynicism, a jaded child forced to grow up too fast, he's sometimes oddly naive about people.
● He makes fast friends off the bat, forgiving his 'enemies' (Including a character he met because the guy stole his identity) and is quick to trust strangers.
● He's dedicated and loyal, even to a fault, staying friends with those who betray him (and contributed to the invasion of his home world) to the point of being too forgiving.
● Ed is a quick thinker, and learner. He's a problem solver, a tactician and calculating even under pressure. He thinks on his feet, and more often than not he does it outside the box, showing that he's more than capable of adapting to change.
● He's also studious, often called a genius, and a natural at alchemy - able to decode even the most thoroughly coded of texts in a considerably short amount of time and improved upon a human transmutation circle the military was working on in lab 5. He's also shown to learn a whole language in less than two years. When he puts his mind to something he'll dedicate days to it on little sleep until he's satisfied.
● A skilled martial artist that adapts his fighting style to his opponent.
● Although he takes most people at face value, he's usually the first to smell a rat, even before the adults surrounding him. He seems to have a talent for reading people that's almost supernatural. While he can trust people he shouldn't, those he distrusts always expose themselves to be worthy of his skepticism.
● Edward is full of guilt, shouldering the blame for things without hesitation and determined to make it right, no matter the personal cost. Even at risk of his own life.
● Self-sacrificial, going so far as to offer himself if it would save his brother or bring him back to life. Similarly, he was content to live on in Munich after finding out that it had worked, because Al's survival always meant more to him than his own happiness.
● In canon, he demonstrates a crippling fear of losing his brother, something that's changed over the years only because he's gone so long without him. He is still fully capable of falling back into old habits with anyone he becomes close enough to or feels responsible for, even now.
● It doesn't take much to rile up his temper by pushing his buttons - if you know which to push. Although these situations are temporary, a moment of anger before he's back to task, they are also much less likely the older he gets.
